GRADATIONS OF PRIMEVAL MAN SCIENTIST’S SEARCH FOR DATA IN AUSTRALIA (Rec. March 22, 5.5'p.ni.) New York, March 21. I Dr. Alexander Hordlicka, curator of physical anthropology at the Smithsonian Institute, the most noted American scientific organisation, will sail on March 25 to study the primal habitations of men in Australia, and especially the recently discovered skeleton remains of Australian aborigines. He believes that these will indicate something in the progress of the race after it had arrived at the human stage, and is convinced, from data studied elsewhere, ’ that he may be able to trace through those. remains various important stages of human development nearly up to histciic times. He informed the Australian Press. Association that these gra/iatioii's of primeval man in Australia, found a counterpart in other continents much earlier, and the traces elsewhere are therefore now much less distinct. Dr. Hordlicka will communicate with noted Australian scientists who have been collecting. these remains recently. The j trip will occupy six months. ’ He will visit also Java and South Africa for correlative data.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
