RIFLE SHOOTING
KARORI CLUB On Saturday the Karori Defence Rifle Club fired its annual musketry classification competition, under service conditions. The conditions of the various practices were as follow: —First, 5 shots grouping at 100 yards; second. 5 shots application at 200 yards: third. 10 shots rapid at 200 yards; fourth. 5 shots snapshooting at 200 yards; fifth, 5 shots application at 500 yards. Total possible number of points, 120. The standard of shooting was of a very high order, and some excellent scores were registered., over 70 per cent, of the members Qualifying as first-clasa marksmen. The score made by Dep.-Pres. 11 V. Oroxton was a particularly good effort, being only 10 points short of the possible t* tai aggregate. Another feature of the day’s «hoot was the excellent score made by xtflmn. E. W. Jepson, one of the club’s junior shots, who only commenced shooting with the dub this season. His score on Saturday was the second best for the club, and was 10 points above the standard of qualification for first-class marksmen. TW.ails of the scores arc as follow:—

SUBURBS CLUB The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club fired a championship shoot over the SCO and 9CO yards on Saturday. Some very fine scores were put up, despite a tricky rear wind varying at times from d-ead in to 14 degrees right. Deputy-President H. R. Hunt compiled a very nice 93 off the gun, putting on 45 at SCO and 48 at SCO yards, the latter including a three. Rflmn. Aston also did exceedingly well with 85, including 44 at the longer range. With one shoot to go,'the five leading men are: Rflmn A. Harris, 609: Dep.-Pres. Hunt. 595; Rflmn. Goodall, 578; A. Sherbrooke. 669- Dep.-Pres. J. Smart. 566.
