WORLD’S SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP
HADFIELD PREPARED TO MEET HANNAN By Telegraph.—Press Association. Blenheim, November 29. Darcy Hadfield, of Auckland, who is now-world’s sculling champion, has advised George Wareham, Hannan’s trainer, that he is prepared "to row Hannan for the world’s championship. No details have vet been arranged, but Wareham informed a reporter this morning that he was expecting a letter from Auckland giving an idea of thet champion’s wishes in the matter. Warenam considers that in all probability the race will take place early in the New Year, probably either at Hamilton or at Wangamli, the choice of location being entirely in Hadfield s own hands. Hannan has had an uphill fight in winning his way back to the battle for the championship since, he was defeated by Arnst on the Wairau River in 1921. Since then he has successfully disposed of Fogwell (twice), Jumbo Wells (twice), Felton, and McDevitt (twice), and Arnst, and now stands without doubt as tho champion of Australasia, and undoubtedly the man with the first call to meet the world’s champion.
