SANDERS CUP
' TRIALS COMMENCE TO-DAY, The first trial to select Wellington’s challenger in the Sanders Cup contests, commencing at Auckland on January 30, will take place this afternoon at 3.15 o’clock. The trial is to be held in conjunction with ' the opening of the Evans Bay Club’s season on a course to start oft the clubhouse and to finish at the same point. A selection committee has been formed of Messrs. Y,'. Duncan, H. Hardham, and J. Breen. These officials will be in charge of all the local trials, and will act 'as judges, and finally as selectors of boat, skipper, and crew. The boats to compete in the trials Will be the new boats Wellesley and All Black, and Eynin and Clairo. June was counted out as not conforming to th© measurements of the Jellicoe class. It is proposed to run trials untiLabout Christmas in order that the entrants may be tested in all kinds of weather conditions. The challenge for the Cup has already gon© in, and the nomination must be entered by January 1. _____
