ACTION BY SYDNEY PAPER
INJUNCTION APPLIED FOR

A case of importance to newspaper interests has been initiated by the “Daily Telegraph” Newspaper Company regarding the broadcasting of news. Tho “Daily Telegraph” has made an ex parte application to tho Equity Court to restrain Broadcasters, Limited, and its agents from broadcasting or transmitting by wireless to the public any portion of the letterpress contained in plaintiff company’s newspapers and from infringing , any copyright articles therein. An affidavit in support of the application nets out allegedly that various portions of the news and information appearing in the plaintiff’s newspaper was being broadcasted as being news supplied by the newspaper “Daily Guardian,” and that the plaintiffs had not authorised or consented to the defendants sending out any news or information of any kind published in any of its newspapers, and that plaintiffs bad suffered and would suffer great damage by defendant’s alleged actions. Marked copies of the “Daily Telegraph” were submitted indicating the large variety of news which, it is alleged, has been broadcasted and which it was alleged had been transmitted as news supplied by tho “Daily Guardian.”
. Mr. Justice Maughan granted plaintiff leave to serve a short notice of motion for an injunction.—Press Assn.
