CAREERS OF PERSONNEL Lieut.-Col. H. E. Pilkington, G.8.E., who has been appointed Quar-termaster-General, was born bn August 1, 1877, and served for three years in the ranks of St. John’s College Cadets, Auckland. He was cadet in the R.N.Z. Artillery from July 11 1896, to March 31, 1898, when he received a commission as lieutenant, being promoted claptain on April 18, 1904, major on April 1, 1912, and lieut.-colonel on October 1 1915. His staff service commenced in 1901, when he was appointed adjutant, R.N.Z.A., of which he was 0.C., Auckland detachment, from 1904 to 1911, adjutant Auckland Division, N.Z.G.A., 0.C., Christchurch Detachment, 1911 to 1913, A.A. and Q.M.G. Canterbury, September, 1911, to April, 1913, A.A.G., G.H.Q., April 24, 1913, to September 9, 1914. His war service includes appointments as adjutant-general of New Zealand Forces, September 10, 1914, to May 30, 1916 seconded for duty at Ordnance Branch, War Office, and to Ordnance Department, British Expeditionary Force, February. 1917, to December, 1917; assistant director of Ordnance Services, 19th Corps, British Armies in -France, December 1917, to June, 1918; assistant director of Ordnance Services, N.Z.E.F., June, 1918, to October, 1919: director of Ordnance Services, G.H.Q., January, 1920. Major E. Puttick, D. 5.0., who is appirintled Assistant OiriurtermasterGcneral, was horn in 1890, and served three years in the. rankk, Waitaki Bovs’ High School Cadets, a year and a half with tho 15th (North Auckland) Regiment, and Seven years with the sth (Wellington) Regiment, being promoted major, January 1, 1915. He was embarkation staff Officer. January 30, 1915. to Anril 4. 1915; staff captain. 2nd Inf. Brigade, March to July, 1916: second in command. 4th Battalion Rifle Brigade, July 1G to August, 1917; O.C. (temp.) 4fh Battalion; O.C. 3rd Battalion, October, 1917; G.P.0.. “0” Brpnch. G.H.0., January, 1920, to December, 1923; assistant quartermaster - general, G.H.0., January, 1924.. Tic commanded the sjy'cial expedition to Fiji in February. 1920. Major T. J. King, who is appointed Director of Ordnance Services, served three years in tho ranks of tho sth (Wellington) Regiment was commissioned in the field, and nnnoinfod captain in 1917. ITe was 0.C., Ordnance Depot. Cairo, in 1015, and Ordnance Officer. Australian and New Zealand Division, Deniitv-Assis-tant and Demitv-Diroefor of Oivlnanco Services; t'b'cf Ordnance Officer, Trenlliam. 1921.
