NEW HIGH SCHOOL AT CHRISTCHURCH

THE OPENING CEREMONY. By Telegraph-— Press AssociationChristchurch, September 6. The handsome new AVest Christchurch District School on Hagley Avpnue was opened yesterday by the Hon. C. J. Parr with due ceremony. The Minister said the new building was one of the finest educational buildings in New Zealand, and he was profoundly satisfied with it. He did not at first favour the employment of day labour, but the' new building was a cheaper job and a more faithful job than would have been dene by a contract. The Education Department was satisfied with the result of day labour at AA’est Christchurch. He congratulated the Educa-: tion Board and district on the new building, and on the children who had gone out of the old building into-the world, and spoke of the schools’ splendid record.
