FALL FROM A LORRY

MAN’S DEATH FOLLOWS INJURIES

A fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Taranaki and Wakefield Streets yesterday morning. It is stated that Archibald Maplesden, a painter in the employ of T. A. Wells. Ltd., was standing on a lorry, with his hand on the driver’s cabin, when, the corner was negotiated. A rut in the road was encountered, and

the bump, together with the swerve of the lorry in turning, is thought to have caused tho man to overbalance. He fell on his head, and was so injured as to necessitate his removal to ths hospital. Ho was admitted in an unconscious condition at 11.15 a.m., and died at 5.25 n.m.

Deceased was 48 years of age, and resided at Rongatai Terrace. Miramar. It'is understood that his wife is at present en route from Melbourne to New Zealand.
