THE MORATORIUM
PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF LAW 4 (By Tebegraph—Press association.) Auckland, Juns 10. Speaking at a complimentary banquet t« the Hon. G. J. Parr last night. Mr. Massey said that the moratorium would end on December 31. He was going to aok Parliament to amend the law so that a boirower might go to die Supreme Court and state his case and ask the Judge to look into it. If rhe Judge thought the mortgagor uad a chance to recover he Would make arrange mentf. for the carrying on of the mortgage for two years, but not longer Mr. Massey said that ho could not believe it was going to be the trouble some people talked about. The security of broad acres was just as good as ever it was. He knew mistakes were made during the boom period, but as the 1919 legislation enabled the mortgagee to apply for exemption, so he proposed the legislation should be just turned round the other way.
