WALKING ROUND THE WORLD

Mr. Maurice Vancam, the man who set out from Y T ancouver in 1911 to walk round the world for a wager of £7OOO. has just reached Wellington. His little tramp of just over 57,000 miles has taken him across Canada, through .Europe, the two Americas, Africa, Asia, and Australia. He has encountered some strange experiences in his travels, includittg the Balkan War in 1912, tho revolution in Mexico in 1913, and the rebellion in China in 1917. He states that ho was locked up on seventeen different occasions by tho Bolsheviks in Siberia, but probably his most trying experience was when lie became delirious through an attack of enteric fever while crossing the Australia desert; and was lost for several days. Ho informed a Dominion reporter yesterday that he hopes to reach his home in Vancouver about September next, and collect the wager. He was wearing his 114th pliir of boots when ho reached Wellington.
