HEAVY TRAFFIC

HUTT COUNTY TO TAKE ACTION.

Eyerv winter the Hutt County Council is faced with a road maintenance problem arising out of wear and tear caused by heavy traffic.. Last year the council proceeded against owners of motor-lorries who came over the Paekakariki hill road in the wet season with a weight of more than three tons, one and a half tons to each pair of wheels. It was decided at yesterday’s meeting of the council to appoint a man to watch for lorries coming over the Paekakarikfi and Rimutaka hill roads this winter, with a view to prosecuting all whose lorries aro heavier than the limit allowed by the by-laws.
