FAMOUS WATERLOO BRIDGE

Waterloo Bridge, over which 9000 i\.'!ii<fles.pass daily, will be closed from midnight on Sunday. The announcement came as a surprise, though it was known that tho . centre arch is defective and is subsiding. Divers are investigating its condition. It is jiopecl that the bridge can be reopened for light traffic shortly if the present work for strengthening the foundations is successful.
