SCHOOL COMMITTEES’ ASSOCIATION

The officers elected for the ensuing year at the annual meeting of the Wellington School Cbmmitfcces’ Association wore: —President, Rev. Dr. Catchpole; vice-presidents. Messrs. A. Sando (Lyall Bay), J. H. Whittaker (Brooklyn), J. W Trim (Te Aro) : secretary, Mr. W. F. Stone (Lyall Bay): treasurer. Mr. J. W. Salmon (Newtown): auditor, Mr. F. Twort (South Wellington) ; honorary solicitor, Mr. H. H. Cornish. A hearty resolution of thanks was passed to chief and Newtown librarians of the public library staff for their gratuitous and invaluable services in connection with the free issue of library books to all schools, and speakers all expressed their great appreciation of the excellent system obtaining.

Resolutions of thanks for services rendered to the association bv Mr. A. J. White, the retiring president, and Mr. E. A. Eyres, the retiring secretary, were unanimously carried. The rules were altered to enable seven members instead of ten to form a quorum. Considerable stress was laid on the matter of overdue subscriptions from thirteen committees.

A proposal that branches of the Junior Red Cross be formed in each school was discussed, and finally the matter was held over for one month.
