WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY

NEW HEBRIDEAN MISSION.

The Wellington Presbytery was presided over last night by Rev. Dr. Gibb. „ . Rev. H. H. Barton, foreign mission-er-secretary, was associated with the Presbytery. ' The future of the native races in the New Hebrides occupied the major part of the discourse of Air. Barton, who stressed that while matters were not entirely satisfactory under the Condominium, there was grave reason to think that they might become worse. The missioner drew attention also to the position in the Indian and Chinese fields. , A resolution was passed urging that the New Hebrides be brought solely under Britain’s jurisdiction. The Moderator said that had he had full information he would not have ruled that the report of the committee in tho case of the Rev. Ross Wood should not be published until it had gone forward to the General Assembly. This statement did not evoke any discussion.
