INDICATIONS OF SUICIDE
ELDERLY MAN ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL. An elderly man named Walter Simon Mansfield, monumental sculptor, of Karori, was admitted to the hospital at.~l p.m. yesterday under circumstances suggesting attempted suicide. His throat was badly gashed, but tho man was reported last night to be progressing as well as could be expected. He is a married man 70 years of ago, and has resided in Karori for a number of years. French Communists wrecked an election meeting of the "Bloc National” at Sartroneille. They stormed the platform, and a free fight developed, in which M. Tardieu was thrown from the platform. His waistcoat was torn off, and he sustained injuries to the arm and body.
