4 RANK OUTSIDER PAYS OVER £4OO (BY telegraph.— Press association.) Auckland, April 28. A dividend of over £4OO was paid at tho Avondale races on Saturday on Karamu, the rank outsider of a large field in the Hobsonville Hurdles. The amount is the largest ever returned in tho Auckland district. The number of tickets on Karamu was 12, of which ten were 10s. and two were £l. making the total amount £7. It is said that neither the owner (Mr. W. J. Hawkins) nor the trainer (F. Gilchrist) had any tickets, but that the former’s father had one for £l.
