BURIED UNDER TONS OF DEBRIS
MANY FIREMEN KILLED (Roc. April 20, 5.5 p.m.) New York, April 18. At Chicago more than twenty. firemen are believed to have been killed, and many injured, when the front wall of a four-story building collapsed suddenly while the men were directing streams of water from the street level upon a terrific fire in a paper box factory located on the upper floor of the structure. The firemen and apparatus were buried under tons of debris. The work of rescue parties was seiiously hampered bv the collapse deranging the electric lighting supply and plunging the neighbourhood into darkness. It is also feared that other walls will collapse. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
