DRAWING AND SINGING
NO ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTORS. A letter from the Education Department stating that it was inadvisab.e to put forward at present any proposal for tho appointment of additional instructors in either singing or drawing, was before the Education, Boa,rd last week. Mr. AA 7 . T. London protested strongly against “the parsimony shown in the communication.” Ho could think of no more important n matter, except, perhaps, book-keeping, which was the cause of a good deal of the trouble disclosed in bankruptcy proceedings, lie proposed that tho Department should be asked to reconsider its decision and agree to the appointment of visiting teachers of singing and drawing. Mr. W. T. Grundy emphasised the necessity of taking action, especially in regard to singing. After brief discussion the motion was carnea.
