APPRENTICES’ ACT
REGULATIONS GAZETTED. Regulations for the purposes of the Apprentices Act are gazetted. They provide that registration of an apprenticeship committee agreed upon by an organisation of employers and an organisation of workers shall bo effected by filing a memorandum of tho agreement with tho nearest District Registrar of Apprentices, together with an application for registration. Tho registrar of the Arbitration Court shall notify the District Registrar of Apprentices of tho appointment of an apprenticeship committee, or its discharge or tho removal or replacement of a member. or any alteration in the locality in which the committee’s functions are exercised. An apprenticeship committee shall exercise its powers only by resolution certified by the chairman or secretary, the person affected to be notified. of the resolution. An appeal against the decision of an apprenticeship committee shall be filed by delivering five copies to tho District Registrar of Apprentices within seven days of tho notification of the decision to tho appellant, the District Registrar then forwarding three copies to. the Court of Arbitration and one to tho apprenticeship committee. The Court of arbitration may make such rules as it thinks fit respecting procedure to be adopted in appeals, and may make such order as it thinks fit pending the hearing of appeals. The reason for the refusal of a contract of apprenticeship is to bo notified the parties by tho District Registrar, and where registration is withheld the same applies. An appeal against the refusal of a District Registrar to register a contract or alteration of a contract shall be filed by delivering four copies to the District Registrar within a week of notification of refusal.
