I lie. maximum insurance, however, is not to exceed 2000 dollars per veteran. , It is rumoured that tho Bill involves Governmental expenditure in excess of 2000 million dollars, of winch i3-> million. dollars would be expended during the first year. Tho Bill will go to tho Senate, where it faces a stormy reception, although it is believed it wdl with some modifications be passed. The bonus has been strenuously opposed bv the late President Harding mid President Coolidge. The former vetoed it in 1922, whereupon the House passed it over the veto, but the Senate failed to act thereon. Official circles believe that President Coolidge will promptly veto the Bill, but bonus advocates avowedly intend to cither win President Coolidge’s approval or muster sufficient votes in Congress to assure its passage over the veto. —Aus.-N.Z.
