STAUNCH CHURCHMEN

At the Home Mission Festival in Picton on Wednesday evening last.the Bishop of Nelson referred to the great loss the parish had sustained during the past year, in the deaths of three such sterling pillars of the Church as the late Messrs. A. P. Seymour, J_ A. R. Greensill, and 11. J. Stace, and paid sincere tribute to their memory. He said he deeply sympathised with the people of Pictoh in their bereavement. In the years rmne by, he did not know of any parish in tho aioceso of Nelson so fortunate in the possession of men of such high standing in the work of the Church, and within 12 months the three had passed to their long rest. They all know tho high respect he always had for Mr. Seymour, and he again'referred to his past life in Holy Trinity Church. Air. Greensill he had always looked upon as one of God’s own chosen, a man who did valiant service for his Church in his day and generation; and now they had lost a much-beloved man in Henrv J. Stace, a diligent Churchman, wlio had accomplished great work for his Master. By-and-by, continued His Lordship when some historian dainc along, he would find certain notes prepared by a one-time Bishop of Nelson, giving in detail the history of such pioneers as those mentioned, which would be read with keen interest by tho generations to come. These notes, recording tho faithfulness of their dear old friends, would be found in a rery accessible plao®.
