The Taihape St. Patrick’s Day Axemen and Athletic CluU’s big meeting was brought to a close to-day in glorious weather. There was a large attendance., and everything passed off without a hitch. The finishes in most of the events were exciting, especially in tho Sheffield Handicap, inches separating tho placed mon. NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, March 17. A conference of delegates from centres of the N-Z.A.A.A. was held cn Saturday. , . , It was resolved to recommend tnat the 1925 championships be l.eld at Auckland. Other recommendations carncil were as follow: —That the one and three-mile cycle championships be included on the New Zealand chanipaonships programme, and that points so gained count for the shield. Ihat a 100 yards ladies’ championship be included in the programme, and th»t points count for tho shield. (In boi|Ji cases Canterbury objected to points counting for the shield.) That junior championship events, comprising 100 or 200 yards be included in the championship programme competitors to be over 16 years and under 18 years of age on January 1 of the year in which the championship is held; points to count for the shield. That New Zealand championship mactings be spread over two days. That a competitor from any other centre, or a|ny other country, be entitled to compete for provincial championships, but points for . the challenge shield be allotted as if he were not a competitor; and in the event of his winning the race he shall not bo recorded as the winner of the championship, mor be entitled to receive the certificate or trophy awarded to the champion, but receive a. special trophy championship; a certificate or trophy shall be awarded, and the title provincial champion conferred as if he had not been a competitor. That a challenge trophy, to be called the “G. P. Keddell Memorial,” bo allotted to the winner of the 120 yards New Zealand championship hurdles. That there bo a limit of three mein from any province in any championship event.

At tho second day of the St. Patrick’s sports, the two-mile Now Zealand cycling championship resulted as follows:—P. O’Shea. (Christchurch.), 1; H. G. Watson (Alarshland), 2; A. G. Turtill (Greymouth), 3. Won by ten yards. Time. 2min. 9sec. A. Bonis wain the two-mile and onemilo cycle halndicaps.

Great interest was taken in the meeting of tho representative relay teams from Canterbury and tho A'.’est Coast. Despite a splendid sprint by J. 11. Parker, the Canterbury runner, the AA'est Coast team won by inches.
