A PROSPEROUS YEAR

METROPOLITAN BUILDING SOCIETY. There was a large attendance at.the annual meeting of the Metropolitan Permanent Building and Investment Society last night. Mr. W. Mackay presided. The annual report and balance-sheet (which were adopted) showed that the society had had a most prosperous year. The directors recommended that the usual distribution of profits at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum be made, together with a bonus of 1 per cent., and that a further sum of £lO6O be added to the reserve fired, which would then stand at £19,000. The balance-sheet showed than ths profits for the year, deducting expenses and interim dividend for six months, totalled £6724 Is. 7d. Of this amount £2038 Ils. 10d. was set apart to he carried forward to next year. The chairman stated that the position was most satisfactoi” - . Messrs. T.
