AUCKLAND WOOL SALE RECORD FOR DOMINION CLAIMED 99 PER CENT. OF OFFERING SOLD Br Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, February 8. The second wool ,sale concluded today. Of the 22,580 bales catalogued, 99 per cent, was cleared. The wool opened up in excellent condition, there being a large number of very attractive lines, including one line of 750 bales of Romney crossbred from Gisborne. The lambs’ wool also included some excellent lines, but a considerable percentage was carrying a medium to a large amount of seed. Bidding was keen throughout, the demand improving somewhat as the sale proceeded. "Super lambs made up to 26}d., which is claimed as a record price for the Dominion. Medium to low crossbreds, which comprised the bulk of the catalogue, generally showed an advance of Id. to ljd. per lb. on recent southern prices, and an increase of 3d. to 4d. on tho last Auckland sale rates for similar wool. There was great demand for bellies, pieces, and crutchings, which showed a substantial advance on the last sale. Continental buyers were very active, and secured about 50 per cent, of the catalogue, the bulk of the remainder going to Bradford. REDWATER FEVER THE OUTBREAK IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, February 8. The outbreak of red water fever in the Tweed district is spreading. Stock officials are convinced that a number of cases have occurred which have not been reported.—Press Assn.

WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES A sale of Kauri Timber shares at 295. 3d. was reported at the morning call" yesterday. At the afternoon call a sale of 44 per cents stocks, 1938, at £96 17s. 6d. was made on Change and another sale at the same price was reported. Other sales reported were Bank of Neiv South Wales at £4l 7s 6d., Bank of New Zealand at £2 Ils. IOJd. and £2 11s. 9d. (two parcels), and Wellington Gas, £lO paid, at £l3 17s. 6d. There was a fair demand for the 4| per cents., buyers offering £96 12s. 6d. for stocks and bonds. For the 5 per cents £97 was offered. Bank shares were steady, with buyers of Bank of Australasia at £l3, Bank of New South Wales at £4l 2s; 6d., and Bank of New Zealand at £2 Ils. 6d. Loan and Mercantile ordinary stocks were firm at £B4, AVellington Trust and Loan at £5 12s. Gd. ex dividend. Christchurch Gas shares were in demand at £7 17s. and Wei-, linc'ton Gas at £l3 16s.
