ARRANGEMENTS FOR N.Z. TOUR. Several matters in connection with tho visit of tilio Now bouth hlos team were dealt with at last night s meeting of the Wellington bucket. Association. , Mr. J. F. Peake, secretary of the New Zealand Council, advised that tho manager of the- Now South V ales team (Mr. C. B. Cochrane) would bo accompanied bv his wife and ion, aged 10$ years, while C. G. Macartney, the captain of tho team, would be accompanied by his wife. He also r.otined that they could expect the pleasure or a visit from Mr. and Mrs. W. McElhone. Mr. McElhone is president of the New South Wales Cricket Association, and will be on a holiday tun. He intended leaving Sydney for Auckland about February 7, touching later at the principal towns, and would probably be travelling with the team for a portion of the tour. Mr. McElhone has been for many years a member of the executive of the New South Wales Cricket Association. He was the founder of the Australian Board of Control, ox-Lord Mayor of Sydney, and is at present an aiderman of the citv of Sydney. The chairman (Mr. C. G. Wilson) explained that tho members of the New South Wales team had advised the New Zealand Cricket Council that they desired that tho reception on their arrival in New Zealand should be the only one tendered to them during their stay in the Dominion. .The team would arrive on February 5, and a civic reception would be accorded them by the Mayor of Wellington. It was hoped by the New Zealand Cricket Council that the Prime Minister (Mr. Massey) and Sir Francis Bell would be able to attend this reception,, at which the Plunket Shield would be handed over to the Wellington team. It was decided to issue tickets at ss. each, admitting holders to the ground and enclosure at the Basin Reserve for three days of the New South Wales v. Wellington match. ROUNTREE NOT AVAILABLE FOR TEST MATCHES. R. W. Rountree, thle AJuckland wicket-keeper, lias advised Mr. K. H. Tucker, sole selector for the New Zealand team, that he will not be available for the Test matches. NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, January 28. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to-night, it was decided that the appointment of umpires, for the second Test match against the New South Wales team be left in the hands of the Wellington Association The Otago Association wrote accepting the conditions for a match against New South Wales. ■ A letter from Major Jennings stated that it was worthy of serious consideration that a military tournament was lieing staged at Wellington on the same date as the Test match. The clashing of dates would affect the financial position of both bodies. •’Hie chairman said it had been found that nftithsr tho council nor military a.utncritics could change the dates, and so matters had to stand as they were at present. The Otago Association wrote expressing the opinion that the council should endeavour to arrange a match between Southland and the New South Wales team. The council regretted that the Southland application, backed un by the Otago Association, could not b'e granted.
