MEETING OF WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION FIXTURES FOR SEVENTH ROUND The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association was held last evening. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided, and there were also present: Messrs. R. A. Berry, H. M. McGirr, A. R. Ronaldson, T. F. Martin, W. R. Bock, H. J. Buck, B. L. Salmon, P. B. Broad, and E. R. F. Hewitt (secretary). The Petone Borough Council wrote, notifying that after the present season it might be desirable to drop the present arrangement with regard to the Petone Oval. They would probably charge the Cricket Association £3O per year as rent for, the ground, the council to maintain the outfield and the Cricket Association to prepare the pitches. The letter was referred to the Senior Championship Committee for a report. The Wellington Umpires’ Association wrote, forwarding a copy of thbir rule 14, which stipulated that no allowance other than . actual travelling expenses could be paid to any umpire, and all claims for expenses must be submitted to thie Umpires’ Association. , , . , Mr. Bock, chairman of the Umpires Association, said that notice of motion had been given to rescind rule 14, which dealt with payment of umpires. It was decided to hold the matter over until it had been disposed of by the Umpires’ Association. The hon. treasurer (Mr. T. F. Martin) reported that the takings at the Wellington-Auckland Plunket Shield match had totalled £359, and the expenses as far as accounts had come in, £lBB. leaving a credit balance of £l7l, of which Wellington’s share would be about £llO. The takings in the Canterbury match had totalled £354, and. the expenses had amounted to £2lO, leaving a credit balance of £144. There had been a loss on the Town v. Country match of £27. The Wellington Association would profit to the extent of about £l7O by the matches. •These figures were only approximate, as probably other accounts would come in Mr. H. J. Buck suggested that the sterling performance of the Wellington representative team in winning all three •of the Plunket Shield matches this season should be marked in some fitting manner.
