NEW PAVILION FOR BASIN RESERVE
SPECIFICATIONS NEARLY COMPLETE There is every prospect of the new pavilion at the Basin Reserve being completed by this time next year. Eighteen months ago it was decided to call for competitive tenders for a new pavilion, with a limit as to cost. Kone of the plans sent in came anywhere near that limit, but the plan of Mr. P H. Graham was given the prize. It is not his design, however, that is being followed for the new building. This has been wholly designed by the city engineer’s department, and will provide a very handsome and commodious steel and concrete structure which is likely to be a fine ornament to Wellington’s most central cricket o-round. The plans have been prepared, and the specifications are row being finalised. Council approval will be sought next month, and it is hoped to call for tenders in March.
