WAIOHINE RIVER BOARD

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Waiohine River Board was held on Wednesday. It being the first meeting of the new board, tho secretary read the returning officer’s declaration that Messrs. A. M. Haigh, L. J. O. Herrick, Alexander Murray, Alfred H. York, and Leonard Greathead were duly elected members of the board. Mri A. M. Haigh was unanimously elected chairman. A oommunication was received from the Department of Internal Affairs relative to the alteration of boundaries of the Aliikouka River Board area, and notifying that Messrs. T. Brook (Commissioner of Crown Lands, Wellington), E. P. Fowler (district valuer, Masterton), and H. Sladden, C. E. Wellington, would form the commission.

The Aliikouka River Board wrote relative to cost of groyne at Cabbage Tree Point. As the cost of this work was £74 155., the board thought that the cost should be borne in equal parts by the Ahikouka River Board, Featherston County Council, and this board.
