There has been a remarkable blizgard in southern England, with the worst snowstorms since 1919. A bleak easterly gale caused heavy drifts. Twenty-five degrees of frost were registered at Dumfries. Great storms are raging in the Bay is Biscay. Much damage has been done to shipping in French ports and rivers. Fishermen describe the storm as the worst in living memory.
