RECORD PRICE AT SYDNEY WOOL SALE
(Rec. January 10, 5.5 P.m.) Sydney, January 10. A record price was obtained for merino bellies at the wool sales. 28jd'. per lb. —Press Assn. PIG PRODUCTION “Considerable .interest has lately been taken in the possibility _ of the export of pig products from this country,” writes a correspondent. “There is no reason why New Zealand should not have a share in the £50,000.000 to £60.000,000 imports of Great Britain Last year Great Britain imported £55.000,000 worth of bacon and pork products, while New Zealand, capable of producing large quantities of pigs at a reasonable cost, onlv exported some few thousand pounds’ north. "VS ith the decrease in the export of beef it is pleasing to notice that considerable attention has now been given to pig fattening. Much larger quantities are coming forward, and New Zealand should before very long have a share of the many millions’ -rorth of pork products that have been imported into Great Britain, living an indication of the big increase in quantities coming forward, only recently the New Zealand Bacon Company _put up a record one day’s kill of 1070 pigs. This is by far tho largest number ever killed bv any one concern in Australia, or New Zealand.”
