Mr. Robert Leslie Hunt, a wellknown Auckland musician, and for manv years secretary of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, died on Sunday at his residence. Thorncourt, Parnell, aged 71 vears. Mr. Hunt was a son of the Into Air. Edmund Hunt, inventor and analyst, of London, who was one of tho pioneer investigators of electricity. and whose system of electric lighting was accepted bv the British Government about .1859. in connection wth the construction of Westminster Bridge. In 1893 he accepted tho post of secretary of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, and 1 for 29 years he watched over its fortunes. Mr. Hunt was well-known for manv years in musical circles in Auckland, and was for a long time honorary organist to t lio Auckland Choral Society. He ,was also a member of the Masonic craft, and was a foundation member of the Txidge Remuera. in which he passed through tho chairs. He was also for long the district grand organist for the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, and was organist for lodges Ara, Mauugawhau. St. Andrew’s and! Remuera. Air. Hunt is survived by Airs. Hunt, two daughters—Airs. E. H. Strickland. of AVellington, and Mrs. J. N. Brooking, of Te Kaba—and two sons, Mr. Horace Hunt, of AVellington. and Air. It. P. Hunt, of Auckland.
