Auckland, November 26. Replying to a deputation which asked that the Government check importations of shoddy footwear the Hon. W. D. Stewart expressed sympathy with the object in view, and said the matter was one primarily fo.' consideration by the Alinister of Labour, with whom he would confer in the matter. The Customs Department could only come in by carrying out any further amendments to the regulations.
