LOCAL COMPETITIONS. Matches under the auspices of the Wellington Rugby League were continued on Saturday, after four weeks spell. Newtown failed to raise a team to meet Petone. Hutt and City met at Emerson Street, the former winning after a fast and onen name bv 22 points to 12. This result leaves Hutt a point ahead of Petone for the championship. AUCKLAND PREMIERSHIP DECIDED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 26. Citv won the senior championship, defeating Athletio bv 8 points to 7. There were 12,000 spectators present. QUEENSLAND DEFEATS NEW SOUTH WALES. (Rec. August 26, 5.5 p.m.) Brisbane, August 25. The Queensland Rugby League representatives defeated New South Wales by 25 points to 10. —Press Assn.
