£30,000 A YEAR

HOSPITAL FEES WRITTEN OFF The question of writing off unpaid fees chargeable to patients was discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the Hospital Board., The secretary stated that about £20,000 had been written off last year. Mr. C. H. Chapman said he was appalled at the length to which this matter had gone. He believed that the loss came to £30,000 a year. While there were numerous cases where the fees should not be charged, it was not always so. _ The chairman, in reply to the Rev. Dr. Elliott, said that they had not put the matter in the hands of any collecting agency, except their own receiver. An attempt will be made to collect some of the money.
