A young man named John Smith appeared before Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday on a charge of insobriety. According to Acting-Sub-Inspector Lander, the man had fallen in the harbour near the Clyde Quay breastw-ork the previous night, and had been hauled out bv two hulk-keepers. Ho was fined ss;. with the option of spending 24 hours in gaol.
