A POLITE OFFENDER
“THANKING YOU AGAIN” An extremely polite young man stepped into the dock in the Magistrate's Court yesterday when the name of John Walter Hamilton was called. The charge concerned tho obtaining of a side of leather by false pretences, and accused had previously pleaded not guilty. Bowing to the Magistrate, the accus-. ed intimated that he would withdraw the plea. “I would rather be sentenced than remain in the remand room. Mr. Page,” he said. “I don’t like that remand room, Mr. Page, and I don’t want to stay in it again, thank you, Mr. Page.” After perusing the man’s record, the Magistrate imposed a term of six months' imprisonment with hard bour“Again thanking you, Mr Page,’ the accused politely replied as he stepped down.
