THE ELECTRICAL CHANGEOVER
Sir, —There has been quite a lot said and written about the electric change over by various correspondents in the various newspapers but very little information given to the ratepayers except generalities. There are two (acts to my mind that should be (1) The Ope.na House accident some short time ago. Was it not a 230 voltage. that caused the death of Miss Porter? (2)A vital matter that everybody has or seemed to overlook. That is the cost of the alterations. The consumer to pay for certain alterations and the corporation others Who are the, corporation, hut the ratepayers and users of the current. Some have to pay twice over for the alterations in their own house, and the general levy on the city as a whole. Because the city will have to foot the ball, and cheap lighting and power will not be available. Tliis is a point that should be considered. The citizens are to pay if not directly, indirectly through the cost of lighting because a few hundred thousand on to the present capital cost is not going to increase tho present earnings.—l am, etc., RATEPAYER.
