SOLAR ECLIPSE

THE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN AT WALLAL EINSTEIN’S THEORY „ CONFIRMED By Telegraph.— Press Association. —Copyright. Sydney, August 20. Dr. Trumpler, of Lick Observatory, one of the American scientists who observed the solar eclipse at Walla! last September, has forwarded to a Svdney friend a splendid photograph of the eclipse, showing various features and the outstanding stars. Dr. Trumpler writes that the full development and examination of. the photographs taken by the expedition will still take several months to complete. The results obtained so far “agree very closely and confirm the prediction of the Einstein Theory better than we had anticipated.” Referring to the proposed expedition to observe tho total solar eclipse in Lower California on September I'o 1924, Dr) Trumple” declares: “Our Einstein tests of last year came out so satisfactorily that it does not seem necessary to repeat them in connection with the later eclipse.” Dr. Trumpler gives dfetails of a lecture delivered bv Dr. W. W. Campbell. another member of last year’s expedition, before the American Astronomical Society, in which Dr. Campbell stated that the conditions for the most exhaustive observations yet made, were perfect, and the results irere in remarkably good agreement with the values predicted on the basis of Einstein’s Theory.—Press Assn.’
