Maunganui left San Franciisco at 11.30 a.m. on Friday Lor Sydney, via Papeete, Rarotonga, and Wellington. She may be expected at Wellington on September 8. THE MAKURA. The Makura, from Sydney, via- Auckland and Suva, arrived at Honolulu at 6 a.m. on Saturday, and sailed at-10.30 p.m. the same day for Vancouver, where she is due on Saturday next. REMUERA AT SOUTHAMPTON. A cable message has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company stating that the Remuera arrived at Southampton on August 18 from Wellington. The vessel left Wellington on July 14. THE PORT SYDNEY. The C. and D. Lino advise that the Port Sydney will leave Timaru this afternoon to load at Lyttelton, Napier, and Wellington. The vessel is to sail-from* Wellington on September 6 for London, via Lag Palmas. RIMUTAKA AT SOUTHAMPTON. Cable advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Rimutaka arrived at Southampton on August lb from Auckland. The vessel sailed from Auckland on July 4. PORT CURTIS TO LOAD. The 0. and D. Lino announce that the Port Curtis is due at Gisborne on September 8 from Newcastle to load for London. The vefisel will also visit Napier. Auckland, Wanganui roadstead, and Wellington. The Federal Lino have been notified by cable that tho Middlesex arrived at Glasgow on August 16 from Auckland, via Boston. The vessel left Auckland on July 1. ATUA RESUMES. 1 The Union Company’s Island steamer Atua. which is being recommissioned for the coastal trade, went into dock at Auckland on Friday afternoon for cleaning and painting. The vessel was very dirty, as she had been lying in the stream since she was laid up about two years ago. 1 DEVON TO SAIL TO-MORROW. Tho steamer Vinita, which has made several trips from New York to New Zealand under tho auspices of the Swayne and Hoyte Line, has beeu sold by the American. Shipping Board to the Weyerhaiiser Lumber Co. Tho Vinita is a steel craft of 5661 grons and 3539 net register, built at Long Beach and launched in 1919. MEBS-TABLB GOSSIP. Captain H. E. Smith has rejoined the Ripple, vice Captain R. Fletcher. Captain J. Green will assume command of the Corinna at Dunedin to-day. Mr. E. M. Foster joined the Kaimanawa at. Wellington yesterday as third officer, in place of Mr. S. E. Martin, who has been promoted to second, vice Mr. J. W. Krox, who cornea ashore for orders. Mr. H. S. Collier, second officer of the Waitomo. has come ashore for orders, and has been succeeded by Mr. W. J. Berryman, late second officer of the Wahine. Mr. W. Jarvis, who has been standing by, joins the Wahine as chief officer, and Mr. 0. Burgees, who has been acting, reverts to his former position as second officer of the vessel. Owing to Mr. A. B. Anderson, second officer of the Katoa,, being invalided ashore at Wellington, Mr. F. Nicholson has joined the vessel temporarily in his stead.
