BACK TO THE BIBLE

WHY SOME MARRIAGES ... ■— -FAIL •*- ADVICE TO MEN & WOMEN ■ i Dr. French Olliver’s “Back to the Bible” campaign was continued at the Town Hall over the week-end.

For his. address, “Why Some Marriages Fail,’ 5 on Saturday afternoon, the Concert Chamber was packed with women, many being turned away. Dr. Olliver gave a lot of practical advice in connection with married conditions. He particularly stressed the value of Christian influence in the home. About 1 ' 900 men and boys attended the address on sex yesterday afternoon. Dr. Olliver based his address on Halations, vi, 7-8. “Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” Ho pointed out that this applied to the abuse of the physical system, just as to anv other realm.. Referring to the drinking evil, he said alcohol was derived from the lowest type of bacteria known to the scientist, and which formed during the rotting of grain. Manhood, he said, really went much deeper than the physical aspect of things; it was built on a man’s character. History proved that it paid to serve God. Referring to sexual evils, he stated that the Y.M.C.A. had proved, thirty years ago, that all men who were actively opposing the Bible were living in open sin. He pleaded for the protection of womanhood, and for drastic laws against the man who would rob a. woman of her purity. Nearlv 2000 people assembled in the Town Hall last night to hear Dr. Olliver’s discourse on “Hell.” He based his address on Hebrews ii, 3, “How shall we escape if we neglect our great salvation.” He declared that a man did not need to be grossly immoral or dishonest in order to be lost.' Neglect was sufficient to seal his doom. “I am absolutely certain,” he eaid, “that-, wherever hell is. whatever it is. it is a terrible reality. The Word of God does not minimise the frightful realities of hell.”

Speakncr on the subject from a scientific standpoint, Dr. iOlliver remarked that it was the airrf of the scientist to reach zero absolute; this would be a condition of eternal cold. If there was such a condition, it was logical to conclude that there was an eternal opposite condition. Dr. Oliver will deliver an address on “Creation or Evolution” in the Town Hall to-night.
