APOLOGY DEMANDED FROM JAPAN (Rec. June 10. 5.5 p.m.) Peking, June 8. The Government has sent a Note to Tokio demanding an apology, an indemnity, and the punishment of .the Japanese commander, whose marines shot down Chinese supporters of the Japanese boycott last week, N.Z. Cable Assn.
JAPAN’S REPLY MORE CRUISERS SENT TO YANGTZE RIVER. (Rec. June 10, 11.5 p.m.) Tokio, June 9. Despite China’s protest, Japan has dispatched four cruisers to reinforce the Japanese patrol on the Yangtze River, and announced her determination to defend the lives and property of her nationals in China. Japan will decline to enter into any negotiations with China over the boycott or the shooting incident until China settles the question of the boycott on Japanese ' goods.
