RESULTS OF PAST YEAR A GREAT IMPROVEMENT NET REVENUE £1,225,305 The extent to which the railway finances have Improved may bo gauged from the fact that whereas in 1921-22 the net revenue from North Island lines was only £517,427, and. there was a deficit of £111,563 on the South Island lines, the former have produced in 1922-23 a not revenue of £927,713, and the latter a net revenue of £297,592.

The total revenue for 1922-23 shows an increase of £84,301 upon that of 1921-22, and the expenditure a decrease of £735,230. The expenditure for 1922-23 has been 81.79 of the revenue. The percentage for 1921-22 was 93.89. Hie 1922-23 excess ot revenue over expenditure is £1,225,305. The 1921-22 figure was £405,864.
