TURKISH ELECTION
WALK-OVER FOR GOVERNMENT CANDIDATES LIKELY
NO OPPOSITIONISTS APPEARING
By telegraph.—press Association, -copyright.
Constantinople, April 15. The elections seem likely to result in a complete walk-over for Government candidates. Hitherto not a single Opposition candidate has appeared. On the contrary, the People’s Party is overwhelmed with applications from woutd-be candidates, many belonging to the late Opposition, an! also to the Party of Union and Progress : but the Government is taking im chances, especially in Constantinople, which is considered suspect; consequently, all the leading Nationalists, including Mustapha Kemal, are standing in Constantinople in order to prevent the Unionists scoring there.— Reuter.
