BUTTER FACTORY DESTROYED BY TBLZGBAPH.—PBYSS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, April 13.

The Now Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company's Butter Factory (a mile from Pukekohe). products, and plant were destroyed by a fire which started at 11 p’.m. aiid burned all night. The nearest adequate water supply is a quarter of a mile distant, but local supplies enabled the brigade to save a dwellinghouse, occupied by the employees. Several large motor-lorries were also saved. The insurances are: Buildings. .£4500: product?. £6200; plant. £lO.OOO, in the Eagle, Star, and Dominions Companies. The cause of the fire is unknown. The factory was one of the largest and oldest established butter factories in the province. During the season 1921-22 the output of the factory for 12 njonths was 2210 tons of butter, and this season it was showing a substantial increase in output over Inst, year’s figures. A fire at 6.30 o’clock last nightgutted a wooden building in Main Street, occupied by the Public Trust Office, Stewart’s auction mart, and Miss Barnes, milliner. The blaze started in Miss Barnes’s shop, which was completely gutted, and-the stock, valued at over £lOOO was destroyed, Stewart’s premises were gutted, and damawe to the extent of £5OO or £6OO was done.’ The Public Trust books were saved. Hie building was insured for £950. Tho other insurances are not available. The brigade extinguished the fire in fifteen minutes.
