ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow at the annual sessions of the New Zealand Alliance yester-day:—Vice-presidents, Hon. George Fowlds. Mr. Wesley Spragg, Rev. P. S. SmaTlfield, Mr. A. C. Caughey, Mr. John Fleming, Hon. J. B. Gow, Mr. W. G. Bassett, Mr. C. E. Daniel, Mr. L. M. Isitt, M.P., Rev. W. J. Williams, Hon. G. J. Smith, Mr. F. Milner. Mr. F. Ferriman, Mr. C. Todd, Mr. F. B. Adams, Mr. J. S. Baxter, Hon. A. N. Hawke, and Messrs. A. R. Atkinson, C. E. Bellringer, H. E. Pacey, W. D. Hunt, and W. J. Helyer, Archdeacon Chatterton, Dr. A. B. O’Brien, and Mr. C. M. Luke; Wellington members of the executive, Mr. W. D. Hunt, Rev. W. J. Comrie, Messrs. J. W. Helyer and C. E. Edmond.
A new scheme of organisation and alteration in the constitution was considered at length and finally adopted
A paper entitled “Our Young Citizens” was read by the Rev. T. H. Radford, and addresses were delivered bv Messrs. H. S. Adams and J. AV. Murray.
Convention resolved: “That this convention states that the prohibition party was in no way responsible for the failure of the Legislature to make provision for reference of the liquor question to the. will of the people in event of prohibition being carried. The prohibtion party have no objection to such reference being made should reasonable demand be made by the people.” “That this conference reaffirm its demand for a revision of the law in regard to rolls, providing for compulsory enrolment and voting in precento or subdivision.”
