A recent visitor from Gisborne _+o Tauranga was asked lus chief impression of the Bay of Plenty centre, (states the “Bay of Plenty Times’ ). He said that two features bad impressed him specially. One was tho number of newlv built houses that were dispensing with tho ordinary fireplaces through the use that was being made'of electric power, and the other was the novel sight of cows grazing in tho main streets. Ho was informed that tho Council granted this rio-ht on pavmvnt of a small fee. Several Gisbornites sat on the foreshore fronting the chief business thoroughfare and watched the traffic dodging the cows. Two cows were seen in front ~f ft public-house, drinking from tho water-table, the water of which seemed to be quite fresh.
