Under previous legislation no authority existed for the payment of wat gratuity to British women who served in. New Zealand hospitals in tho uinv cd Kingdom during the war, but under section 15 of the Finance Act, 1922, the authority conferred on the Minister of Defence by section 7 of the Expeditionary Forces Amendment- Act--1918, to pay a bonus to members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force after service therein beyond the sens, was extended to authorise. the payment of a bonus, at the British rate, to or on account of any persons who, though domiciled out of New Zealand, served for not less than six months as members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment or as General Service Workers in New Zealand hospitals, and were paid for their service by the New Zealand Government. Applications from those who are entitled to this bonus and are now domiciled in New Zealand should be forwarded to the officer wi charge, New Zealand Expeditionary l f otoi.
