RECORD ENTRIES. The number of teams entered in the Wellington Rugby Union’s competition for the 1933' season constitutes a re cord, totalling 132, as. compared with 119 Ipst year. There is a. prospect' of further entries bein'* received. There will be 11 senior teams, being ono in excess of last year. 14 juniors, 19 thirds, 21 intermediates, 20 fourth class, 18 fifth class, 15 sixth class, and 14 seventh class. Petone Berhampore, Poneto and Wellington College have entered 9 teams each;. Selwyn and Athletic being second with 8. It, is anticipated that there will bo some difficulty in accommodating all the teams on the metropolitan grounds. POSITION OP DENOMINATIONAL SCHOOLS. BY TELBCBAPTI.—-PRESS ASSOCIATION. Christchurch, April 12 The matter of the Puhb'c Schools’ 'Association refusing to allow denominational schools to take part in Rugby competitions under its control was discussed at a meeting of the Marist Club to-night. It was mentioned that teams had been entered in the competitions, but as the association did not meet till to-morrow night the fate, of the entries would not be known till then It was decided to defer action, until after the meeting of, the association. If the association persists in its attitude the Rugby Union will inaugurate a competition to meet the needs of the boys.

Tlie following teams will represent Wellington on Saturday:— Seniors v. Old Boys, at Athletic Park, 3.15 p.m.—Tull, Butcher, Hepbum, YVhyborn, Thompson, Joyce, Hera, Lindsay, Hughes, Johnson, McGregor, YVright, Hill, Richard, McDuff. Emergencies: Forwards, Cooper, Webster; baok, Christie. Fourth Class v. Oriental, at Athletic Park, 12.45 p.m. —Watts, Rowse, Cross, Symons, Thornton, Deacon, McCallum, Hall, Ross, J. Wilson, Gaudin, Nembrow, Ritchio, Thompson, McGregor. Emergencies: Milne, Oldfield.
