Speaking to an “Otago Daily Times” reporter, Mr. 11. B. Tennent, of the Department; of Agriculture, stated that quite a largo number of applications had been received from farmers desirous of attending a special comae of instruction to oe -held in Dunedin from May 29 till Jme 4. The Southland and Otago provincial branches of tho New Zealand Farmers’ Union are cooperating with the Department in an endeavour to make this, the first fanners’ course, a success. Among the applicants are farmers from Southliind, North Otago, ami Central Otago. ‘The up-to-date farmer of to-day realises said Mr. Tennent, “that successful farming means the co-ordination of intelligent and thorough cultivation with tho pnnciples of modern scientific agriculture.
