EMPIRE DAY IN SCHOOLS
A SPOKEN MESSAGE FROM THE KING AND QUEEN
Their Majesties, the King and Queen, have intimated through His Excellency the Governor-General their desire to deliver a spoken message to the school children of New Zealand on Empire Day, May 24. A gramophone record of their Majesties’ message has been prepared in England, and duplicate records are being forwarded to New Zealand for distribution to schools or school authorities who may apply to the Director of Education. ’Wellington
The Minister of Education expresses the hope that this kindly and thoughtful proposal made bv their Majesties will in addition to its own special interest, have the effect of placing the celebration of Empire Day among tho school children of New Zealand on a footing more comparable with Empire Day observances in other Dpminions than has been the case in the past.
